AN ARDROSSAN schoolgirl has raised over £300 for a charity after she had 24 inches cut off her hair.
Murron Gallacher, 13, who is a second-year pupil at St Matthew’s Academy, raised £325 for the Little Princess Trust which provides real hair wigs to young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.
The 13-year-old decided to cut her hair in tribute to those who have passed away from cancer and in solidarity with those who have lost hair.
Murron got 24 inches chopped off at the Glamour Room at Saltcoats in front of family and friends.
Her mum, Joanne, said: “I am very proud of Murron. I was in a bit of shock when I first saw her hair get cut as she looks so different, but it is great what she has done for charity.”
Murron’s hair has now been sent to the charity and will help create a new wig for a young person suffering from hair loss.
She received a certificate for her generous donation.
