IF, like me, you’re a fan of a traditional Sunday Lunch, then Trump Turnberry’s new twist on the British classic is a must, writes Lisa Hodge.

Already renowned for its fine dining and pristine service, the South Ayrshire resort has added another string to its culinary bow with its new Sunday Roast Sharing Platter.

Served in the Duel in the Sun restaurant, located in the golf clubhouse, the lunch menu is the brainchild of head chef John Maltby, who has vast experience dishing up the finest cuisine for luxury hotel brands, and it shows.

The platter features slow roasted grass-fed Scotch beef, goose fat roasted potatoes, honey roast root vegetables, broccoli, green beans, salted caramel roast onion and red wine jus.

All beef served at Trump Turnberry is certified Scottish, from specifically selected farms and dry aged for a minimum 28 days on the bone and that is evident in the flavour.

Wherever you sit in the restaurant you’re treated to sprawling views over the Ayrshire coastline which takes in the world famous Open Championship Ailsa golf course and, of course, the iconic lighthouse.

The restaurant is family friendly with attentive staff who go out of their way to make you feel at home (so much so the kids can colour in or play with a large toy chest while they wait for dinner to arrive).

An after dinner walk to the Lighthouse is recommended, but if you’re too full (like I was) then why not head up to the main hotel for a coffee and more of those fantastic views.

A meal at Turnberry isn’t just dinner, it’s a culinary experience.

The Sunday Lunch Sharing Platter is served every Sunday between 12:30pm and 5pm and is priced at £39 for two people. To reserve your place, call 01655 334 088 or email dining@trumpturnberry.com.
