Ardrossan fiddle sensation Alastair Savage will open the next season of concerts for Music in West Kilbride (MiWK).

The event, the first concert of the programme, will feature Alastair in a duo with cellist, Alice Allen, on Friday, October 18 at 7.30pm.

Savage and Allen’s performance kicks off a season of diverse talent, ranging from Scottish quintet Brass Tracks to the classical duo The Ayoub Sisters, to the ‘gypsy jazz’ of Tim Kliphuis Trio.

Margaret McCrorie, chair of MiWK, said: “We are delighted that Alastair Savage and Alice Allen are opening our season as they represent so much of what we aspire to share with our audiences.

“They are Scottish, steeped in both Scottish traditional music and classical forms, and expert at melding the two into a distinctive sound that reveals how international Scottish music is in terms of its reach and influences.

“As a local boy we are also pleased to welcome him home. He speaks often of the positive influences of Ardrossan and Ayrshire on his career as one of Scotland’s great fiddle players.”

The full programme of events can be found at musicinwk.org.

Tickets are £10 and are available on the door or in advance via the website above.
