Staff from the Royal Bank of Scotland were invited along to the recent SAS Legion branch meeting to give advice on scams and fraudsters.

Among the issues raised were how to deal with safety, security, scam callers and online banking fraudsters.

One Legion member said: “It’s amazing how easy it is for a fraudster to get a hold of your digital banking login details. Thankfully I’ve never been victim to scams but a few of our legion members had which was very distressing to hear about. I’m really grateful to our guests coming along to our branch meeting as it’s really opened my eyes to how devious these criminals can be.”

An RBS spokesperson said: “We would never ask you to change your account name, move money to another account or share your digital banking login or mobile app activation codes. If anyone asks you for any of these details, hang up immediately. Please report any calls like this using a different phone and a number you can trust from our website or the back of your credit or debit card.”
