TWO people are being treated with oxygen after a fire broke out in a house in Saltcoats this afternoon.

Firefighters, police and ambulance raced to the scene in Adams Avenue following reports of a fire just after noon Today (Tuesday, October 22).

Two people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and crews are still on the scene.

Buses and other traffic had to be diverted wile emergency services dealt with the incident.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were alerted at 12.02pm on Tuesday, October 22 to reports of a house fire at Adams Avenue, Saltcoats.

“Operations Control mobilised three appliances where crews extinguished the fire.

“Two people were removed from the house and received oxygen therapy from firefighters shortly before being passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“A crew remain in attendance.”

A spokesman for Stagecoach said: "The 18 service is unable to service Adams Ave Saltcoats due to an ongoing incident all buses will divert via Dykesmains Road to Corrie Crescent updates to follow."
