A GRIEVING mother says there’s ‘no justice’ for her daughter who 'drank herself to death' after being sexually abused by her stepdad for years.

Natalie O’Donnell, 21, lost her life from Hepatorenal Syndrome caused by her cirrhosis five weeks ago after becoming addicted to alcohol, which her mum Gaynor Watson claims she used to block out her abuse.

Now Gaynor, 44, from Irvine, says her daughter got ‘no justice at all’ after her abuser pled guilty - but got no jail time.

Irvine Times:

Alastair Niven Goldie, 49, admitted engaging in sexual intercourse while in a position of trust towards the girl, while living in her house when he was Gaynor’s boyfriend.

Goldie was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for three years in 2017 and given a Community Payback Order with supervision including 300 hours of unpaid work.

But furious mum Gaynor is blasting the system after claiming her daughter was given no help, while her attacker was given alcohol counselling and education workshops on relationships.

Gaynor has been left struggling to pay for her daughters headstone and is desperately trying to get justice for her child.

She claims her then-boyfriend, Goldie, ‘brainwashed’ Natalie into having a secret sexual relationship with him behind her back from when she was just 15-years-old.

Irvine Times:

Gaynor claims Goldie would even text her while she was in school threatening to kill himself if she didn’t go to him.

She was left ‘disgusted’ when, on Natalie’s 16th birthday, he admitted he had been having sex and groping her.

Gaynor said: “He was my partner at the time and groomed Natalie for years.

“I feel like he used me, I was vulnerable at the time and he hemmed in like a shark.

“My defences were down and he took advantage of that, he is an evil man.

“Along with the abuse that was happening with her she developed an alcohol problem and basically started drinking to blur it all out, all the abuse.

“She had cirrhosis in her liver and kidney failure in the end, it’s so terrible and it’s him that’s done this to her, he’s caused this.

“Now he is walking about free as a bird, while my daughter is lying dead cold in the ground at 21-years old because of his abuse.

“I blame him. She would never have been addicted to alcohol otherwise.”

Now the devastated mum has been left feeling sick that her daughter was let down by the system while her abuser was given help.

Irvine Times:

She claims Natalie was even ‘knocked back’ when claiming compensation because she had been charged with smashing a window when she was a teenager.

Now Gaynor is trying to claim compensation to put money towards Natalie’s headstone.

She said: “We struggled to pay for the funeral as well, so the headstone is another thing.

“She is buried with her great gran and papa they have a stone but there is no room for her name so need new stone all engraved again, but she deserves it.

“The compensation would help her some kind of justice for Natalie, it would be a start.

“He got 300 hours community service and counselling for appropriate relationships. He’s getting all the help and she got nothing.

“How is that fair?

“These children who get abused are just not getting any justice at all, it’s a shame.

“He brainwashed her, he told her we didn’t want her and controlled her through that.

“He got her addicted to alcohol because he gave her it when she was being abused and the alcohol is what killed her.

“I just want people to be aware of what can happen.”
