Remembrance Sunday is on November 10 this year.
The annual day commemorates the contribution of British and Commonwealth servicemen/women and civilians in the two World Wars and later conflicts.
This year is the 100th Anniversary of the signing of The Treaty of Versailles, which was the most important of the peace treaties that brought World War I to an end. The Treaty ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers.
This year we also remember the contribution that animals made, and are still making, in the fight for peace and the rehabilitation of those injured – for example, well over 8 million horses died during WWI.
The parade in Saltcoats this year will form up as usual in Bradshaw St/Nineyard St/Hill St. Anyone planning to attend and march should be ready for 10.30am.
The Ardrossan Remembrance Parade starts at the library, at the bottom of Glasgow Street, at 12.30pm
In Stevenston, the Static Parade and Act of Remembrance are at the memorial on the corner of New St/Moorpark Road West. This will commence at 1.30pm.
On Armistice Day itself – Monday, November 11 – there will be a short service and laying of crosses at Saltcoats War Memorial at 11am.
A spokesperson from the Saltcoats, Ardrossan and Stevenston Legion Branch said: "The Royal British Legion Scotland are honoured to manage the parades and invite all to join us at these community acts of remembrance and we hope that there will be something additional and meaningful at the parade."
