A MUSICAL group plans to create a community hub on Stevenston beach front.

Raise Your Voice with Ardeer (SCIO) is aiming to provide a community facility with a café for local organisations to use.

Margaret Sweeney, from Raise Your Voice with Ardeer, said: “One of the aims of this project is to open public toilets at the beach area. We had looked at refurbishing the old pavilion building, but after extensive surveys this has been proved to be unachievable due to the high repair costs. At a planning meeting last week, the decision was taken to look at an alternative site for the project.

“The plan for the new building is to provide the public toilets, education room to support the work of the rangers etc on the nature reserve. Storage facilities for the Nation’s Favourite Litter Picker will also be provided. Also included in the area will be an area for serving replenishments. This area would also allow for the charity to hold classes, groups etc.

“Raise Your Voice with Ardeer are very excited about this project and are looking forward to engaging with the public/wider community as we move forward to ensure that their needs are met.”
