A POPULAR charity shop will close its doors for the last time later this month after supporting disadvantaged families for over a decade.

Barnardo’s Scotland opened its Prestwick store in Ayrshire in 2009, and after ten years will be saying a fond farewell to its premises in Main Street.

The charity would like to thank everyone who has supported the shop over the last 10 years, their contribution either in donations or by being a customer, has been very much appreciated.

Thanks too goes to the army of volunteers who, over the years, have sorted and displayed stock; served customers and generally kept the shop running smoothly.

Steven Harper, shop manager, said: “I am proud to have worked with such a dedicated and happy team. We would like to thank the people of the town for their support over the years and we hope they realise just how much of a difference they’ve made to so many local lives.”

Andi Gilmour, area business manager, said: “We are sincerely grateful for all of the hard work and dedication of the entire Prestwick team.

“Although the Prestwick shop will soon close, we will continue to welcome donations at our other local stores in Troon and Irvine.”
