Irvine and Kilwinning’s MSP donated an apple tree to Eglinton Growers last week.

Cunninghame South MSP Ruth Maguire met with the Eglinton Growers on Monday, November 11 to hear about improvement plans at the site as well as a new accessible garden.

And while she was there she presented the allotment holders with the gift of an apple tree to the Eglinton Growers’ orchard.

Cunninghame South MSP Ruth Maguire said: “I was delighted to donate an apple tree to the Eglinton Growers orchard and receive an update on their ambitious plans for improvements to the site including an accessible community garden.

“I have been really impressed with the way Eglinton Growers have involved the community young and old in development of the plans and wish them every success moving forward.”

Eglinton Growers, an allotment society for Irvine, Kilwinning and surrounding villages, set at the edge of Eglinton Country Park was formed in 2010 to develop and manage allotments and gardens.

The group opened the current site on in June 2012 on a trial basis and officially and for the first full season in spring 2013.
