Trains have been disrupted for the second day in a row after trees fell onto overhead lines.

Network Rail engineers have been sent to the site after the tree fell between Kilwinning and Stevenston today.

A Scotrail spokesperson said:“We’ve had reports of a tree having fallen onto overhead lines between Stevenston and Kilwinning.

“NetworkRail response staff and overhead line engineers are on their way to site ASAP.

“Our Ardrossan/Largs – Glasgow Central services are being disrupted.

“Glasgow Central – Ardrossan/Largs services are terminating and starting back from Kilwinning whilst this incident is ongoing.”
