FAMILY of a missing Stevenston man say he has been found in Kilwinning.

Police in North Ayrshire were appealing for information to try and trace William Murphy who hadn't been heard from since September.

Family of the 51-year-old, who went missing from Stevenston, contacted the police on December 8 as they were concerned they had not heard from him in three months.

There was an unconfirmed sighting of William on December 5 within the Kilwinning/Three Towns area.

The Herald previously reported that William is white and is around 5ft 10ins tall. It is unknown what he is wearing at this time.

Sgt Love of Saltcoats Police Office previously said: “Although it is not unusual for family and friends to not hear from William for long periods, as time passes his loved ones are becoming increasingly concerned for him.”

“Enquires are ongoing in a bid to trace William and I would ask anyone with information, or who has seen William since this time, to contact us.”

“I would also want to issue a personal request to William to attend at a local police station or to contact one of his friends or family so that we can ensure he is safe and well."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1608 of December 8 2019.
