Two men suffered life-changing injuries after jumping from a flat window in Stevenston to escape intruders.

CID are conducting inquries after the men aged 23 and 27 leapt from a window of a three-storey building on Grange Road at around 11.20pm on Christmas Eve.

Both men were then rushed to hospital where staff describe their injuries as life-changing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At around 11.20pm on Christmas Eve (Tuesday, December 24) two men aged 23 and 27 were within a flat on Grange Road, Stevenston when they heard intruders within the property.

"The two men then jumped out the window of the flat to escape the intruders and sustained serious injuries.

"Both men were taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital where the 23-year-old man is currently being treated for his injuries.

"The 27-year-old was transferred to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.

"Hospital staff describe both persons injuries as life changing.

"Police enquiries are ongoing to establish exact circumstances and trace the intruders."
