The Coastguard was called after a person was repoorted missing in Ardrossan.

The Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team responded shortly before 6pm yesterday evening [Tuesday] alongside Largs Coastguard Rescue Team, Troon Lifeboat and Senior Coastal Operations Officer Steve Muldoon.

The team were initially tasked with searching the area of Ardrossan Harbour.

While conducting a thorough search of this area in extremely challenging weather conditions, an update was received advising the missing person had been traced safe and well by police.

With the person traced safe and well all Coastguard resources were stood down with the team returning to station to dry off equipment and complete the necessary paperwork.

This is the sixth incident the team has responded to only eight days into the New Year and the new decade. 

The Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to those in need at the coast and beyond.
