Two Ardrossan institutions will be teaming up to give residents the best opportunities to enjoy and make music.

The Ardrossan Music Experience and Ardrossan Accies Rugby Club have formed a new musical partnership with the first live gig to take place at the clubhouse next month – with Rockabilly band Best Bad Influence who will perform at 7pm on Saturday, February 29.

The Ardrossan Music Experience will also deliver free songwriting sessions hosted by JJ Gilmore and North Ayrshire artist Colin Kennedy.

Songwriting sessions are free and the band night will be £5 on the door.

Peter Macnamera said: “We’re working in partnership with the Ardrossan Accies to provide live music within the Accies club. We commence on Saturday, February 29 with a cracking local band playing called The Best Bad Influence. They are a rockabilly band of 17 to 18-year-olds and absolutely brilliant.

“We’re also putting on songwriting sessions which start again on the Thursday, February 20 from 7pm to 9pm at Ardrossan Academicals that day and for the following six weeks with the acclaimed JJ Gilmour and the local rocker Colin Kennedy - they will be taking the sessions as they have for the past four years.

“The Accies are big supporters of local music and the local community and they invited us to work with them and provide live music.

“It came about after we were invited to put music on at their beer festival so we’ll be supporting that in May again this year with some live music and we’re hoping the local community will come along and support us.”
