GIRLS from Kilwinning and across North Ayrshire are developing their football skills in time for the coming season.

Kilwinning Community Sports Club are hosting coaching sessions for Under-9s and Under-11s on Fridays, from 6pm until 7pm.

The sessions resumed last week and there was a good attendance.

Participants are from the Kilwinning area and also Saltcoats and Irvine.

The girls are working on the basics of the game, including passing, shooting, dribbling and team-work.

They are working towards the start of the new season, which will run from March to November. An additional training night is also being planned with details to follow.

Girls football is very much on the up following huge interest in last year’s Women’s Football Word Cup in France. Scotland international Erin Cuthbert, from Kilwinning is expected to lend a hand with some coaching during the summer.
