TRIBUTES have been paid to an Ayrshire policeman who died after falling from a bridge this week.

Jamie Lynch died after plunging from the Clackmannanshire Bridge in Fife.

Police were called to the bridge at around 9.25pm on Sunday, January 19 after reports of concern for a person.

Specialist officers searched the river and found the body of the 28-year-old man in the water.

Officers closed the bridge to traffic whilst they deal with the incident and remained on the scene into the early hours of this morning.

Police are treating the Kilwinning man’s death as ‘unexplained’ but say there are no suspicious circumstances.

People on social media have paid tribute to Jamie saying: “Condolences going out to the family and all who knew him.”, another says: “Awful. RIP and condolences to the family.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The body of a 28-year-old man was recovered from the River Forth a short time later following a search.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained, although there are no apparent suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
