A FAST rising Saltcoats karate ace did Scotland proud in an international competition last week.

The 19-year-old former Ardrossan Academy pupil travelled to Budapest last Wednesday with Scottish National Team, representing Scotland Under-21 female in the EKF European championships. This was the fifth time Aria had been chosen to compete as part of the Scottish National Team. Only one male and one female athlete is chosen from associations Scotland-wide in each age.

She competed really well and reached the quarter-finals. Mum Joanne said: “Aria was really pleased with her performance in Budapest. The success came just days after she won gold in the North South Open Karate Championships in Belfast.”
