Fire crews and police are investigating after a man was rescued from a blaze in Stevenston.

Fire crews were alerted at 1.04am on Thursday (February 13) to the fire on Morrison Avenue.

One man had to be rescued from the property before being assisted by paramedics.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted at 1.04am on Thursday, February 13 to reports of a fire within a block of flats on Morrison Avenue, Stevenston, Ayrshire. 

"Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and firefighters worked to extinguish the flames. 

"Firefighters rescued one man from the property and administered aid before handing him into the care of paramedics. 

"Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe and an investigation will be carried out to establish the full facts and circumstances." 

Police Scotland confirmed they were assisting Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with their inquiries.
