CULZEAN Castle and Country Park are to host an outdoor walking event to encourage people to get away from the usual hustle and bustle in their lives.

The famous South Ayrshire landmark are telling people to ‘Walk Yer Socks Off’ as they try to promote the importance of looking after the body and the mind.

They will hold the event on Sunday, March 15 from 12-6pm with a whole host of activities on offer for all of the family to take part in.

A park spokesperson said: “The park will be largely vehicle free for the day which will allow a more relaxed opportunity to savour the sights and sounds of Culzean and its entire spring splendour.

“Activities will include orienteering, geocaching, led-safari’s, health and well-being walks, forest bath experiences, self-led trails and Nordic walking sessions.

“Ayrshire Coastal Paths will be in the Smiddy providing information and advice on walks in the surrounding areas.

“Home Energy Scotland will be there too with freebies and their fun smoothie bike.”

All the activities begin from the Home Farm Smiddy in the park.

Non-National Trust members will need to pay the standard winter admission fees of £3 per adult and £2 per child.

While this will largely be a car free zone, blue badge holders will be accepted.

Meanwhile, the country park’s will hold their latest Nature Nippers event on Thursday, March 26.

This is for those aged five and under to be accompanied by parents.

The kids will be allowed the chance to explore the natural world through games, crafts and play.

The event will be on for one hour between 10.15-11.15am.
