A PATIENT who spent time in a hospital ward that helps people who have suffered a stroke returned to give a generous donation.

George McKenna wished to thank the staff of Station 16 at University Hospital Ayr, after he spent time there to recover.

The cheque was presented to staff after George, a keen bowler helped raise £460 with Seafield Bowling Club.

George had set sights on returning to the bowling green after his time in hospital, which he achieved.

He insisted that the money is used for the ward’s day room to benefit future patients.

The was money was raised thanks to a collection from other bowling club members who chipped in after George was discharged.

Nursing staff were very grateful for the kind donation.

Sharon McNeil Senior Charge Nurse added: “We’d like to say a huge thanks to George and his friends at Seafield Bowling Club. Their donation will be greatly appreciated by the families who will benefit from it.”
