An IRVINE man stole parcels from a property in Saltcoats.

Andrew Cambridge swiped the mail from a house in Springvale Street last year.

The case against Cambridge, of Pladda Avenue, Irvine, called for the first time last week, at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

Cambridge, 54, pleaded guilty to the single charge against him - a charge of theft - via letter.

Sheriff Michael Hanlon was told that the unspecified number of parcels contained goods to the value of £120 - and that all the items he stole had been recovered.

After hearing the parcels were found within a bag that he had taken and kept, instead of delivering them to peoples addresses.

The judge then called for background reports to be prepared ahead of sentencing, and adjourned the case for that to be done.

Cambridge could be caged for as long as 12 months when he returns to the dock next month to learn his fate.
