A yellow weather warning for snow and ice across Ayrshire this week has been issued from the Met Office.

The warning was issued this morning and will be valid until Wednesday, February 26 with wintry showers and icy stretches likely to bring some travel distruptions.

Travellers are advised that there is a high chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces and there may be some icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle roads.

There may also be some longer roads and railways affected by this increasing journey durations when travelling by car bus or train.

These cold showers will fall as a mixture of rain, hail and snow at times, the snow mostly over higher ground.
