DEJECTED Ayr United manager Mark Kerr is urging his side to bounce back quickly following their shock midweek defeat.

United lost 2-1 at Somerset Park on Tuesday, to end a four-game unbeaten run in the league.

Kerr said:"You need to defend properly against Morton.

We had made a good start and looked as if we were right at it.

"For the first goal we had two or three chances to clear it, the defending was terrible.

"Doosy (Ross Doohan) took the blame for the second goal but it was just a punt up the park.

"We played long ball football in the second half as they had 11 men behind the ball. We had two or three chances as well but that's the way it goes."

Looking ahead to the weekend he added: "Saturday was a disaster and against Morton we didn't take points.

"We gave the game to Morton through poor defending.

"It's a big game for us at Alloa and we must aim to bounce back."
