A YOUTH football club will take part in a charity run to raise awareness for their hometown charity.

Troon Thistle 2011s are set to get on their marks for Troon’s Park Run, which will take place this Saturday, March 7.

The club have teamed up with Troon charity Give A Dog A Bone who help elderly residents in the town tackle social isolation and get four legged friends involved.

It comes as they plan to raise more funds for their new strips, which come to a cost of £1,700 and are in place for the start of the new season.

Coach Ross Dempster hopes that the funds raise could see Give A Dog A Bone sponsored on the team training kits.

He said: “We’re going to try and help them with a monthly donation. As a local club we want to support the local charity. We are going out to do the Park Run to show a bit of interest in the town.

“We’re all looking forward to it.”
