A DUNDONALD pub raised thousands for a national rugby hero battling Motor Neurone Disease.

The Auchans held a celebration in aid of brave Doddie Weir who continues to put up a brave fight against the illness.

They raised £3,400 with the funds going to the charity set up by the sporting great ‘My Name’5 Doddie’.

On the eve of Scotland’s clash with England in the Six Nations, more than 60 people packed into the bar to take part in a themed night which involved the screening of the 1990 historic win over the Auld Enemy.

Punters got into the spirit, dressing in tartan and wearing Doddie Weir head-bands, which further raised further funds for the charity.

Raffle prizes including rounds of golf at elite courses were also up for grabs.
