Youngsters with additional support needs enjoyed a fun-filled day inspired by children’s literary legends on World Book Day.
North Ayrshire Council’s School Library service team put on two sessions on Thursday, March 5 – one in the morning, and another in the afternoon – at Ardeer Community Centre for pupils at North Ayrshire’s additional support needs schools.
On the day, the youngsters were able to exchange their National Book Token for a free book of their choice, meet Harry Potter’s owl Hedwig, have a caricature portrait done themed as their favourite character and take part in an Alice-in-Wonderland tea party
They got to hear from Jo Raliver, author of ‘Rodney the Rather Rare Rainbowsaurus’
As well as providing some fun and excitement, the sessions also offered an opportunity for the young people to meet each other ahead of moving into the new additional support needs campus in Stevenston next year.
