North Ayrshire's leisure centres will close tonight amid coronavirus fears.

KA Leisure says it will shut all its centres from 10pm tonight [Wednesday, March 18] with all activities and events cancelled until further notice.

A KA Leisure spokesperson said: "Following the most recent public health advice from the Scottish and UK governments regarding the spread of the coronavirus, it is with regret that we have to announce that as of 10pm on Wednesday, March 18, all KA Leisure venues are closed and all activities and events will be cancelled until further notice.

"We appreciate the disappointment and disruption this will cause to all our customers and ask for your understanding and co-operation during this time.

"All membership fees and class subscriptions will be frozen automatically throughout the closure, so customers do not need to take any action.

"During this time we anticipate a high volume of enquiries and it may take a few days for us to respond. We will keep you updated through our channels as we receive further information.

"These are unprecedented times for us all and we appreciate our customers patience during this time.

"Please be assured that the health and wellbeing of customers and employees remains our priority."
