Council chiefs have approved £100,000 for new community facilities in Ardeer.
Cabinet agreed to award the money from the Community Investment fund
Raise Your Voice with Ardeer, a registered charity since June last year, applied for the Community Investment Fund cash for a multi-function community facility at Shore Road, Stevenston Beach.
Cabinet approved the application yesterday [Tuesday].
The multi-function facility will provide services to encourage tourism, support community groups and environmental activities.
The original project was to renovate existing facilities and toilets beside the sports pitch, playground and carpark, but these will now be removed and replaced.
The centre will include two gender-neutral toilets, with accessible toilet and baby changing area to allow people to have more time to enjoy the activities.
It would also host environmental educational workshops and be open for the wider community use to bring in an income to support the charity.
The café area will supply refreshments and snacks, NA Foodbank provision, with the group qualified to deliver cooking on a budget classes.
The group plans to sell or hire out items for outdoor activities, like fishing nets, balls, buckets and spades.
