A 24/7 COVID-19 Community Clinical Assessment Centre is now open in Ayrshire.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran announced that the facility will add to current services to provide greater access for people with worsening coronavirus symptoms for enhanced medical assessment and care.

Attendance at the centre, based at Crosshouse Hospital, is by appointment only.

Patients should continue to follow advice here or call NHS 24 (111) if symptoms worsen.

Over 1,000 people in Scotland have tested positive for coronavirus.

In the last 24 hours 165 more positive cases have been confirmed, 72 individuals are now being treated in ICU, and a further 8 deaths linked to COVID-19 have been announced.

A total of 33 patients have now died in Scotland.

A single more patient has tested positive for coronavirus in Ayrshire and Arran in the last 24 hours.

Nicola Sturgeon warned the public to follow advice to avoid gatherings ahead of the weekend.

Police Scotland have said they have had to deal with gangs of youths not adhering to official advice.

The case numbers are an underestimate, Dr Catherine Calderwood, Scotland’s chief medical officer, said official estimate is that over 60,000 people are infected.

Both Prime Minister Boris Johnson and minister for health, Matt Hancock, have tested positive for coronavirus.

Current Scottish Government advice is, for the protection of yourself and others, stay at home, only go outside for essential food, health and work reasons, stay two metres (six feet) away from other people, wash your hands regularly, and wash your hands as soon as you get home.
