An Arran woman sang for the NHS shortly after thousands showed their appreciation to heroic health workers on the frontline of coronavirus.
Nikki Surridge delivered an emotional rendition of Caro Mio Ben, which she dedicated to courageous nurses, doctors and emergency services fighting Covid-19.
The stunning Italian song was also to honour the thousands of Italian and Spanish lives that have been lost to the virus.
The 59-year-old care worker  told the Herald: “It was right after everyone had finished clapping. I wanted to do what Italians have been doing it. I sang right across the valley at Blackwaterfoot. I told my sister to wait outside, and anyone else who was out.”
“We felt so sorry for Italy and Spain and it was for the health workers and care workers who are doing an amazing job right now.”
