Scotland is in lockdown. Shops are closing and newspaper sales are falling fast. We’re not exaggerating when we say that the future of the Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald, and the vital local news service we’ve provided since 1853, is under threat.

Please consider supporting the Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald in whatever way you can – by paying just 90p for a copy of the paper, when you’re shopping for essential supplies for yourself and others, or by subscribing to our e-edition here.

Thanks – and stay safe.

Pennyburn pupils were the winners at the annual Kilwinning School’s Quiz.

Brainy pupils from primary schools across the town gathered at Kilwinning Academy earlier in the month for the big test of the mightiest minds.

And in the end the pupils from Pennyburn picked up the shield and winning certificate.

Kilwinning Academy said: “We held our P7 Quiz, supported by Mr Connell and Mr Bennett. James and David were fab hosts.

“The winning team from Pennyburn Primary School received the shield in memory of Mrs Groves. Glen and Katy were delighted to present the prize.

“Well done everyone!”

Congratulations to the champions at Pennyburn Primary and all the participants.
