THREE Towns kids got a surprise visit from the Easter bunny as Whitlees Community Centre volunteers delivered hundreds of chocolate eggs to their door.

Families were reduced to tears upon receiving the unexpected treat.

Julie Gray, centre coordinator, said: “We couldn’t advertise it in case of crowds so we just walked around the town and beeped our car horn. Kids came to the window to receive the eggs or we left it at their door or in the garden.

“Kids and their parents were crying. We also delivered them to the elderly and threw them to carers, bus drivers and ambulance crews that we met on our round.”

The centre gives out 150 hot meals, including schools meals, a week, picks up prescriptions and provides telephone support to those that need it.

Julie said: “I’d like to thank Steven Lee and Laura Lee who helped deliver the eggs and to local shops for their support.”
