North Ayrshire residents are being urged to be vigilant after two incidents involving a bogus caller.

Earlier this week, a woman had visited the homes of vulnerable clients of North Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnership.

On both occasions, the woman wore no uniform and had no badge.

She offered to do shopping and, in at least one of the incidents, she claimed to be from the local Community Hub.

A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson confirmed that the woman is not a member of staff and that they would not cold call at a vulnerable client’s home.

If you have concerns about the legitimacy of a caller, you can get in touch with the Community Planning Team on 01294 310000 and they will contact local help as required.

Further advice on how to tell if someone is a genuine council employee or a member of your local community hub is available here.

Any concerns regarding bogus callers can also be reported to Police Scotland on 101.
