An Arran-based home fragrance and body care brand has donated more than £100,000 worth of products to key workers.

The ARRAN Sense of Scotland firm hope the luxury care packages, being gifted to more than 100 care homes, care in the community providers and hospitals across the country including Ayrshire Hospice, will lift the spirits of those on the frontline in the fight against coronavirus.

Spring is usually high season for the company previously known as Arran Aramatic, with hotels usually set to welcome visitors in their droves. Yet with the travel sector all but shut down, the team at ARRAN Sense of Scotland wanted to gift the miniature toiletries and trade supplies that would usually go to hotels and guest houses to those working on the front line as a thank you until they can get a well-earned break.

The company is currently creating and distributing care packages, made up of miniature shower gels, soaps and body lotions from its extensive range to care homes across the country.

Some 38,000 units have been dispensed across Scottish Care Homes and Hospitals to help front line workers get some much-needed respite. A donation will also be sent to Age Scotland for the key workers at their office in Edinburgh and in Age Scotland’s partner groups – including those running befriending services, food deliveries to elderly residents and care home staff.

Andrew Russell, sales and marketing director said: “With another cycle of lockdown just confirmed no one knows when those hardest at work in our country will get a chance to take a break, nor enjoy the kindness and hospitality of our clients.

“We are donating over £100,000 of miniature products that you would normally find in guest bedrooms to the amazing people providing front line care in the community and our care homes across the country. To say thank you for everything they’re doing during this difficult time, we would like key workers to enjoy a small gift from ARRAN Sense of Scotland as our way of saying thank you.

“We will do as much as we can to bring a little relaxation and rejuvenation whilst looking forward to when the hospitality industry can begin to welcome everyone once again.”

Ron Swanson, Assistant Fundraising Manager at Ayrshire Hospice, said: “Thank you most sincerely for donating the lovely goodie bags to our 150 staff still working at Ayrshire Hospice in the current situation of COVID-19. This is such a lovely gesture and an excellent idea to put a smile on the faces of all our amazing key workers. Our sincere thanks to all of the fantastic team at ARRAN Sense of Scotland who made this possible.”
