MORE than £1,000 has been raised for a city pub worker who has suddenly died following a tragic accident.
Paul Halliday will be known to regulars of Cairns Bar on Miller Street in the city centre.
The pub has launched the fundraiser for his family following his death earlier this month on May 7.
It is understood that Paul worked in the bar's kitchen for 15 years and no further details were provided surrounding his death.
Tributes accompanying the JustGiving page said the chef was known for his one-liners. He was also described as a family man who was private and spoke fondly of his mum and sisters.
A statement on the pub's page said: "It’s with a heavy heart that I have to pass on the sad news of the tragic and sudden passing of Paul Halliday one of our long-serving kitchen team members.
"Paul will be sadly missed by all the team and we are all devastated.
"We would like to mark his passing by raising some funds for Paul’s family during a difficult time."
