A man has been remanded in custody after facing a murder charge in court.
James Ferguson, 42, appeared in private where he faced two charges against him today [Tuesday, May 26] following his arrest for alleged involvement in an incident in Ardrossan.
Ardrossan man Paul Cairns was gunned down in a house in Nithsdale Road on Sunday, May 24 after a man burst into the property with a firearm before making their escape.
Ferguson was charged with both murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
Ferguson, whose address was listed as Kilwinning, entered no plea to the charges against him.
He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
He will return to Kilmarnock Sheriff Court at a later date.
