A CUMNOCK man is raising money for the National Autistic Society by running 5km to work every day in May.

Scott Riddell, who works for the Society at Catrine Bank, is running come rain or shine. The challenge will see him clock close to 100 miles.

The 31-year-old wants to buy goods for residents at Catrine Bank, a supported living service for autistic adults, to use whilst locked down.

Scott said: “The people we support at Catrine Bank are going through major changes at the moment because of this tough situation we are all living through.

“Like us all they are of course missing their family and loved ones. I wanted to raise this money to buy some outdoor equipment for the people we support and do something special for them as they have already done for me.

“To be able to give something back to this truly amazing service is the least I can do and I hope in some way it will bring about a feeling of solidarity and kindness.”

Scott’s boss, Donald Kirkland said: “Even during these challenging times, Scott has not lost sight of what we are trying to achieve as both a service and as a charity. He truly believes in building a society that works for autistic people.

“His efforts have helped everyone at Catrine Bank to remain focused and committed to the both the people we support and each other.

“This fundraiser has inspired me not to lose sight of what it is important during this tough time.”
