A CUMNOCK clothing shop has said it is beginning preparations for reopening ahead of the new school year.

Kenny’s Kilts, based on Glaisnock Street, specialises in menswear, school wear and kilt hire. It says it is following government guidelines and will open when it is safe to do.

But owner Henry is already thinking ahead to schools reopening in August and is making plans for the safety measures the shop will introduce.

Henry said: “I’m just getting prepared now. I ordered a screen for the counter and hand sanitisers which customers can use coming in the door and am putting marks on the floor to ensure people are social distancing.

“With my shop I’ve got the men’s bit and the ladies bit next door so we’ve got different doors which means we can operate a one way system.

“It might be another few weeks before shops open. I’m just waiting on the government to say exactly what’s what.”

Although Kenny’s Kilts has missed out on wedding season, Henry is confident the business will get a boost from schools re-starting, especially with the new Barony Campus underway.

Henry said: “The school season is our busiest time so that will help us.”
