A Stevenston schoolgirl’s cartoon has been watched over 35,000 times - in just one week.

Sarah Davidson created the video and uploaded it to the video-sharing platform on May 20.

Within a day, the 11-year-old's clip had been watched more than a thousand times.

And the Stanley Primary pupil was blown away by the response.

She said: “I just wanted to have a little bit of fun.

“I thought people might like it, but way more than I thought.”

Sarah made the video using the Gacha Life app, which lets kids create their own anime styled characters, dress them up and then animate them.

It takes Sarah a few hours to make the videos, of which she has made 24.

Diane, Sarah’s mum, said: “I actually have no idea what it is about.

“We’re all quite surprised. When she first put it on it had 500 views in an hour.

“Then she didn’t want me to know about it, because she was shy and embarrassed about it.

“I wanted to see in case it had something crazy. It had 18,000 views, I thought holy goodness, this is crazy.”

Apart from a little cartoon violence, the video’s content is almost indecipherable to anyone not familiar with the world of Gacha Life.

Sarah’s brother Joshua, 18, who is studying computing at Ayrshire College, makes content for Youtube daily and dreams of earning a living from it one day.

He said: “I think the views on Sarah’s video might have been down to timing and a bit of luck.

“It’s very rare that I would have a video do as well as hers.”

Diane said: “It takes a huge amount of work and people don’t understand that. You can spend a week editing a video, and I worry that your life becomes consumed with it.

“But because of the lockdown it’s something they can do at home.

“I try to encourage them to do with what they’re passionate about.”

For now, Sarah is happy making the cartoons for fun. She gets to use elements made by other creators to add her own characters and sounds, including her pet owl, Gizmo.

She said: “The little mini anime characters are cute and it’s fun to put something online that other people can see.”

Her cartoon now has over 45k views. You can see Sarah’s video on her Youtube channel Lûna_Afton, and Joshua’s at Ayro.
