A woman was rushed to hospital after being hit by a car on the A78.
Police confirmed a female pedestrian was struck by a car during an incident near the Montfode Roundabout at 2.20pm today [Friday, June 19].
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment after the busy stretch of road between Ardrossan and West Kilbride was closed after the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At around 2.20pm on Friday, June 19 police received a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Crawfords Lodge access road, Ardrossan.
"Emergency services attended and a woman was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.
"The A78 was closed for approximately two hours and local diversions were put in place."
