A TEEN boy has been left with a serious head injury after being assaulted by a gang of three thugs during a violent robbery.
The callous attack took place on Saturday evening in Boydfield Gardens, Prestwick where a 16-year-old boy was attacked by three male youths.
Emergency services were called to the incident where the victim was found to have suffered a severe head trauma.
An ambulance rushed the boy to Ayr Hospital where his condition remains serious.
Police have launched a hunt for the three suspects, who also stole personal property from the teen victim.
Yesterday they sealed off Boydfield Gardens as officers investigated the incident.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 8.35pm on Saturday, June 20, a 16-year-old male youth was assaulted by three male youths in Boydfield Gardens, Prestwick who then ran off with some of his personal property.
“He was taken by ambulance to Ayr Hospital where he is being treated for a serious head injury. Hospital staff describe his condition as serious.
“Police are following a definite line of enquiry.”
