A KILBIRNIE comedian has found love on a lockdown dating show with a popular Scottish wrestler.

Dee Maxwell has matched up with ICW wrestler Davey the Blaze after they hit it off on the new online dating show Zoom to Groom.

Known for her outspoken and loud style, she drew thousands of viewers to the show and the comedian says she was shocked to find a match.

Dee, 39 told the Herald: “It was unexpected. I just did it for a laugh. I’ve been single for two or three years, I’ve been on the premium websites, and it just shows you that the old fashioned style is the best style.

“Lockdown has been tough for everyone on the dating scene, but it was really good fun.

“You go on that and have the banter with someone, we’ve been texting every day since.

Dee is excited for the future and looking ahead to meet up with Davey soon for a date now that restaurants and bars have reopened.

The comedian is thrilled to now make it official.

She added: “It’s not been obvious to everyone, but some of my fans kind of know. We are both happy to go public with it now. I’m known as a big man hater and that might put a lot of guys off, but we had that chemistry, wouldn’t find that on Tinder.”

It was not Davey’s first time looking for love on a show, after appearing on ITV’s Take Me Out in 2014.

Zoom to Groom is a new format that sees hopeful singletons paired up with matches over a 90 second video call, and organisers of the show said it was the most foul-mouthed, out-there date they had witnessed.

The show is aired live on Saturday nights from 10pm on Facebook, Youtube and Twitch.

Producer Hannah said: “On Saturday night, we have our most watched show ever, reaching over 33,000 people and counting – thanks largely to Dee Maxwell appearing on the show.”
