Ardrossan Coastguard and Rescue Team recently gave a massive thanks to John Thomson for sharing photos of their flying colleagues from Coastguard Helicopter 199 conducting winch training with the Finlaggan Ferry to Islay.
Coastguard helicopters routinely train with ‘floating callsigns’ including passenger ferries as well as other commercial and military vessels to maintain their exceptionally high skill levels.
As well as training with vessels, the aircrews also routinely train with key partners including Coastguard Rescue Teams, RNLI lifeboats and Mountain Rescue Teams across Scotland.
