A COVID-19 response hub had to close temporarily after one of the team was contacted via track and trace.

The hub set up in the Harbour Arts Centre, in Irvine, has been used for the community response effort after it had to close its doors to the public at the start of lockdown.

However the hub had to cease operation after one of the helpers was contacted by Track and Trace – with the HAC given a deep clean.

Council chiefs confirmed there had been no positive cases in the hub and the team expect to be back in operation with their response efforts from this week [Tuesday, July 28].

A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “The Harbour Arts Centre has been closed to the public since the start of lockdown and is being used for Community Hub provision as part of our response to COVID-19.

“We can confirm that an individual connected to the hub was contacted by Track and Trace.

They have not returned to the centre since receiving the call and, purely as a precautionary measure, the centre has been closed and an enhanced clean will take place.

“There are no positive cases within the hub, and we expect to re-open it on July 28.”
