The Marymass dog show is now open for entries as part of this year's virtual community festival.

The annual Marymass Dog Show has now officially launched with residents also invited to join this year’s first ever 'worst lockdown haircut competition;.

Residents are also invited to send in any pictures of garden parties or personal celebrations they will be holding for Marymass.

As part of this years festivities, the Marymass Festival and Irvine Carter’s Society will hosting an alternative family dog show due to the current pandemic.

Residents are invited to send in pictures and videos of their perfect pooches the four categories of Waggiest Tail, Cutest Dog, Best Groomed and Dog Most Like Their Owner – with each category judged and prizes awarded for first, second and third place.

To take part email photos and videos to contact@marymassfestival.co.uk and mention which categories you are entering, with entries closing on Thursday, August 13 at 7.30pm.

Winners will be announced the evening of Wednesday, August 19 with a full gallery of all the participants available online as part of the festival.

A spokesman said: “We’ve taken the opportunity of hosting a digital Marymass to introduce some special oneoff events, starting with the worst lockdown haircut.

“This is open to everyone! Simply send in an image of your dodgy ‘do before July 31 for your chance to be crowned champion.

“Send us a message or email contact@marymassfestival.co.uk to enter. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place announced on Tuesday, August 18.”
