In July a photographic competition was organised to raise money for the agricultural charities RSABI and RABI. Photographs arrived from all over the UK and Europe for the 8 classes from calf to senior bull.

The cattle did not have to be ‘dressed’ for a show or even on a halter, so it gave opportunities for all members to participate and show off their cattle.

Commenting on the competition Mr Campbell said: “We were so pleased with the standard of cattle, many of whom we would not normally see. It was really difficult to choose the winners. We have also learnt to use some new technology – not normally used when judging cattle!”

Set on the outskirts of Dalry, Baidlandmains Fold was established in 2013 by the Anderson family, Fred, Mary and Billy, with the purchase of 2 x 2year old heifers from the Pollok Fold in Glasgow. Numbers have increased to a total of 18 and counting, mostly descendants of the original two.

They secured a second place with their stunning in calf cow.
