Fire and Rescue teams from Sanquhar and New Cumnock battled for several hours to save three houses in West Loch in Sanquhar on Wednesday, August 12 after adverse weather conditions caused severe flooding to the area.

Firefighters worked through the night, pumping water from the houses to abate the heavy flooding caused by the stormy weather which affected homes across Ayrshire and beyond on Wednesday night.

Locals observed how it was the worst weather seen, particularly in Sanquhar, for a long time.

Photos were sent in by Sanquhar local Andrew McDowell Jnr who observed the scene as water thundered through pavements and back gardens.
