Libraries, MUSEUMS and galleries across East Ayrshire are reopening meaning great news for locals itching to soak up different cultural events in the area. 

From Tuesday, August 18, the Dick Institute’s museum and gallery spaces will be open to the public meaning that visitors can enjoy the Johnnie Walker exhibition, Dean Castle Collections exhibition and the V&A’s Art of Selling Songs exhibition at the Dick Institute.

The Dick Institute Café is also open and visitors can benefit from 50 per cent off their orders with the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout August.

Mauchline’s Burns House Museum will also open to the public from August 18 where visitors can view the Robert Burns Collection which has officially been recognised as one of national significance.

Cumnock’s Baird Institute re-opens on Thursday, August 20 where locals can visit the Castles in a Landscape exhibition which looks at Scottish castles and helps to tell the story of our nation’s turbulent past. 

Libraries have also now reopened for browsing, loaning, computer access, photocopying and printing with a revised timetable.

A number of measures have been introduced to ensure locals can visit safely and these will be clearly displayed within the libraries.

Visitors are reminded to wear a mask during visits and that they will be required to leave their contact details to support the Government’s Track & Protect Initiative.

Entry is free for all venues and exhibitions.
