Pavements have been temporarily widened by North Ayrshire Council in an attempt to make it ‘safe and easier’ for people to walk as lockdown is eased.
Footways on Glasgow Street and Princess Street in Ardrossan and New Street in Dalry have had cones put in place to create more space for people to physically distance while walking and queueing outside shops.
The plans are part of the Scottish Government’s Spaces for People fund from which the council won £100k.
However, one shopworker told the Herald that the measures have reduced parking spaces used by customers who want to conveniently stop to pick up groceries or takeaways.
What do you think of these special measures?
